These Scroll cufflinks are designed based on classic French Rococo motifs. Often seen decorating interiors and antique furniture, this beautiful hand-worked decoration was developed by craftspeople and designers rather than architects. We have created these cufflinks by bringing the curved silver pattern that classically incorporates the letters ‘S’ and ‘C’ to the surface of the enamel as well as using asymmetry in the design which was common to the form.
Coloured enamel glass crystals are crushed and mixed with water to form a paste which is then precisely painted into the reticulations of the design before it is fired at 800 degrees. It is then buffed by hand to make a beautifully smooth, flush surface and this stage of the process is repeated 3 times, making up just 1/12 of the creation of these handmade cufflinks.
